First time going out

Tonight Alex and I went out to the Outback in town. It is over half an hour walk, but that was fine (we were the only people with a jacket there though).
They gave away free T-shirts for the first 500, but we were too late for that. The live-band was quite nice, but the rest was not really fascinating. They had some kind of strange show where people could win money and would do anything for it. First there was the Mangina contest, where boys had to pen in their penis, so that they would look kinda female. The second was a girls kissing competition.

They had free beer and BBQ there, and when I saw and smelled it the sausages, I felt really sick. Alex was eating one of those, and suddenly I realized (again) what is going on in the world. All these poor creatures suffering. Can that really be true? Can it be most of the people eating that?

Krystian asked me if New Zealand is paradise. Despite the fact that I don't believe in paradise, a country where BBQ is the main dish is definitely not paradise for me.

I wonder if people would still eat the same if they had to breed the animals themselves in animal factories.
I wonder if people would still eat the same if they had to treat them that badly.
I wonder if people would still eat the same if they had to kill in the slaughterhouses.

Most people that I met have never thought about that. Most of them don't care. My friends are amongst them.

Today I don't like this place. Today I don't like this planet.

I like the saying "Maybe this planet is just another planet's hell". If you think about it it is obvious that there must be other planets which are some planet's heaven. And on this heaven-planet all the cute little animals live a life in peace and happiness.

Though I am from the meat-eater fraction I hope that you get in better mood soon. Just think of all the beautiful things of life!

Take care!

hi jule_

you can't really believe that you say you contribute to the things that make this planet the hell that it is, and that manu should look away and only look to the beautiful things in life. this is not really the way to cheer one up - try to help to make this planet the heaven that it could be instead!

we all have the possibility to change. let's start to do it! give your heart a push :-)

greetings with love for all beeings

*lol*, I definitely did not want to start a discussion about me meat eating or not. I really do respect you vegans and vegetarians for what you do, but I personally can not abandon meat from my menu. I hope you guys can accept that as well.

And I did not want Manooh to "only look at the beautiful things of life", I just suggested that it is sometimes useful to remember all things, not only the bad and sad ones.

We - and by "we" I mean all the people who actually did it - achieved a lot of things regarding animal rights and related stuff. So let's keep up this effort to achieve even more! I am btw member of Greenpeace, WWF and 4 Pfoten.

*sarcasm on*... i really respect you people not killing other people, but i am a serial-killer, and i hope you can accept that as well...*sarcasm off*

sorry, no offense intended, but to be honest, you CAN abandon meat from your menu, but you don't WANT to. and really, no, i can't accept that, because otherwise i would not be involved in animal rights, and i would not want all life to be lived, and then i would otherwise still eat carcasses.

peace for you and all other sentient beeings

First of all: thanks to you both for leaving your comments!

It is so hard sometimes to express what I think. I get the feeling that most of the people think that vegans are worn-out hippies with no sense of reality.

jule_, you wrote: "And on this heaven-planet all the cute little animals live a life in peace and happiness."
I am not thinking in terms of "cute little animals", but in terms of rights, basic rights.

Try to go back in time, talking to people fighting against slavory in the US, for example. If they were sad because they could not see any changes, what would you tell them?
I guess it would not help them to say: "well, I have my own slaves (it is so comfortable), but I guess there is another world where these cute stupid niggers don't have to work for us"

Even if the intention was to help, such a sentence does not help me, far from it..

Why do we kill animals that are able to feel and that are conscious of their desicions (like a small child is, too)?
Why are pigs and dogs treated differently? Because of their looks?

It is NOT about me feeling better. It is about CHANGE, about BASIC RIGHTS.

I think it's better when I don't say any other word regarding that topic. You two seem to take that very seriously and I don't want to hurt any of your feelings. Maybe we can discuss that in person somewhen, that makes it much easier to explain things and points of view.

I don't think of vegans and animal-right-activists as worn-out hippies. On the contrary!

And I like that comparison with the slavery in the US, makes me really think. Nice rhetoric.

Hopefully no hard feelings.

Yep, you're right..
And actually, this is a very good comment to close with, saying that it made you think. That's one of the best things to achieve..

Take care!

You idiots, this is an insane conversation. These cute little animals eat other cute little animals. Please tell the great white sharks to stop eating us humans. I am gonna have a nice and tender t-bone tonight which was slaughtered by a farmer living next door. Can you respect that?

Thank you, anonymous, for leaving your comment. I am wondering though why you don't have the courage to state your name..

If you read the previous comments thoroughly, you will see that I am NOT talking about "cute little animals". I have the impression that whatever I say, some people are sticking to their prejudiced opinion.

If I am wrong, please let me know. In the meantime, could you probably tell me how many humans are factory farmed by sharks?
